One of my relatives apparently squirrelled away a Thompson M1A1 machine gun back in the 80's. I was asked if I had any idea as to its value. I said my best, and rather uneducated guess was in the neighborhood of $25k-$30k, but I'd try to find out more. Any idea on what one of these would go for?
It's unfired NIB basically, if you can call a 20 year old gun 'new' and allegedly in mint condition (he lives on the east coast, so I haven't seen the thing)
Before you ask, it was registered, so it's good to go there.
No idea what mags he has with it either.
Thanks
-Ted

So much depends on the particular firearm that I doubt you're going to get any info without some more specifics; is this an original M1A1, is it a pre-86 re-weld, is it a Auto-Ord/Kahr conversion, or what? Regardless, you're likely to get a clearer answer on one of the full-auto forums.

$575Cdn. Marstar has 'em listed at that. Mind you, there isn't as big of a market up here. However, there's one here they're saying is worth $800. Although, on the SMG forums there's a few listed at $7,700 and up. Condition and what comes with it matters. Certainly not 25 to 30 grand though.

Bwahahahah
The only "thompson" you'll find for $7700 is a BRP lookalike built on a stemple tube
Low end for even a West Hurley Thompson is over 13-14K
Wow--thanks for that resource! Amazing that something like those graphs exists out there. I'll definately need to find out more about the gun.
