I have a 1911 I had Heinie sghts installed on. Front sight is in a dovetail and held on with a roll pin. I have a pin for it. Once I get the pin in and cut do I have to tap it with a punch to make sure the pin stays in place? Replaced the pin once this week and the front sight fell off after 100 rds.
Take Care
Bob

Sight should be tight in the dovetail without the roll pin. Is it? The roll pin is just "suspenders" for the "belt" (tight dovetail). The roll pin should have a hole drilled in the slide, either blind or all the way through. All the way through will let you drive it through to remove. If the slide doesn't have a hole for the roll pin and the dovetail ain't tight, you won't keep the next one on either.
