The other night I got home from work about 5:30pm and dumped a load of 44 mag brass in the tumbler. I set the timer for 2 1/2 hours then went inside (it's in my garage) to get cleaned up, have dinner and watch a little TV. The idea is as I always do, after a couple of hours it shuts off, then the next day before I leave for work I unplug it so it doesn't retrigger. I dump the brass when I get home and I'm good to reload the following evening.

Yup - you guessed it - the timer never shut off. This morning when I was ready to leave for work I go out to the garage and there's the tumbler just polishing and shining away my brass! I gotta tell ya - this is going to be the cleanest brass I have ever shot. Just opening the box at the range and people around me will be blinded by the sun glinting off these little mirrors!

Can't wait to try 'em!:D

I routinely run mine overnight or all day while I am at work.

A "count down" timer (you can find them at Granger) is better suited to the task, than a security light timer. If you let them run unattened be aware of the fire danger.

I just love having ultra-shiny brass. It doesn't do anything any better, but it sure looks good!

Actually, I'm convinced that it feeds better out of magazines where the rounds slide against each other (and against the magazine lips) much more easily. I love my brass to look like this. :)

Do most people only tumble pistol brass or also rifle? i've just started loading for rifle (6.5x55) and am not tumbling the brass since I gave away my tumbler before moving home to texas.

I also like the slick feel of polished brass and think it feeds better in the press as well as at the range.

i have managed a few overuns and the brass is super cleab and shiny, sometimes too slick to pick up. but, it sure is nice

I'll always run my tumbler all night or up to 24 hrs. No ejection problems with that brass!

I've loaded for 46 years, and for 30 some of those years, I did not have a tumbler. If you hand clean them, it will be just fine for small numbers. When I started competitive pistol shooting in the early 90's, firing as many as 2-3K per month, I needed a tubler.

There are simple solutions of vinegar and salt for wet cleaning, do a search, that work very well. I have alledgedly put brass in old nylon stockings and run them thru the wifes washer with detergent, when she was not home:what:. :uhoh:Worked just fine.
