Howdy!

The Nevada Legislature ended officially last night at Midnight, but is moving into special session for a couple of last minute funding issues.

All the firearms related bills are recapped at SECTION 11 (http://art1sec11.blogspot.com) We won a bunch and didn't lose too many.

Thanks for the update, Buck.

I understand the CCW thing morphed into

If you qualify with any revolver, then any other revolver is automatically qualified,
but if you qualify with an autopistol, then the makes and models must still be listed.

Which kind of sucks, since it assumed that "all revolvers are the same" while at the same time "all automatics are different."

I will assure you that my 4-inch L-frame 586 is NOT "the same as" a J-frame snubbie.

On the other hand, there are now at least three calibres (and I believe a fourth coming) of XD pistol, and certainly three major calibres in the 1911 family. In fact, every major maker I can think of chambers 9mm, .40 S&W, and .45 ACP, and many chamber 10mm and .357 SIG -- all in the same design, with the same operating system.

Whoever molested that bill could have at least had the decency to allow "all Glocks" or "all 1911-style" or "all Berettas" instead of itemizing them all.

So, if I want to carry an XYZ 10mm, .38 Super, and .45 ACP (all built on the same frame, using the same operating system) I have to list each one separately. And pay a fee for each one I add to the permit.

But I can qualify with my Blackhawk and carry my S&W Snubbie. Because they're "the same," dontcha know.

Somebody slap that guy for me, would ya?

And I see that Las Vegas still gets to keep track of which LAW-ABIDING citizens have pistols. Because, y'know, those law-abiding folk are just SO dangerous!

Sigh.

Well, at least we made some progress.

Howdy!

You can thank Chairman Bernie Anderson for the bastardization of S.B. 237. I was told that allowing his amendment regarding the revolver/semiauto qualification was the only way to get the bill out of committee.

OBTW Bernie is totally clueless on firearms, he's just a frickin' Washoe county liberal that has been in the legislature waaaaay too long. It's up to the residents of Reno to get this guy outa there.

So, did we gain reciprocity this time?

"Buck",

I really hope you keep Section 11 going. It's been invaluable to me as a new, Nevada transplant (from Kommiefornia:barf:). I was able to get involved with a bunch of the legislators and learn about the important bills being proposed. I'm still getting letters from them regarding these issues.

I have Section 11 bookmarked and check it on a daily basis.

Thanks for the great blog!
