Shotgun Barrel?

I'm going to look at couple of used guns. On of them is a JC Higgins Model 583-1101 20 ga.. Any thing I should look for? How inportant is the inside of the barrel of a shot gun? Thanks Tim

Rather important. Clean it out good and look for dark areas, pits and non shiny surfaces. Minor pitting affects performance little, but anything past that is a turndown,IMO.
