Due to a servere handicap medical reason, my wife can only use a 22 LR for home defense. She was very good with a 9MM but can no longer handle it or a 380. She can handle the Buckmark Micro with no problems. The question is: At a maximum of 10 yards, whoch offers the best advantage-CCI Mini Mag HP, CCI Vleocitor or Stinger or is another round better?

One, I'd go with the most reliable one in that gun. IMHO, I've had better results with the Mini Mags through a wide variety of .22s.

FWIW, one of the most gun savvy people I know chose a Buckmark for his daughter.

Second Al.
Buy some of everything, shoot them all, and use the highest velocity round that is 100% reliable. I don't know that a .22 HP has any advantage on large game such as criminals. You just have to keep tagging him. Preferably in the face.

Stingers for the auto.

Rem Vipers for revolvers.

May be a bit gruesome, but I've seen a .22LR punch through the chest of a man. Not sure if it was a rifle or HG, but penetration was 100%.

Do you know if it was HP or ball?

CCI Velocitor or Stinger or Aguila 60 grain SSS.

Elliot, have you had good performance with the Aguila in a handgun? The one time I tried it I got keyholing at close range and very poor accuracy.

what about some of those Frangables? the Quickshocks I think they were called. supposedly full 3 segment fragmenting within 3 inches. no idea what the velocity is.

and extra mags, with a .22 I would suspect that she would want to use the "shoot it untill it stops moving" style.

Al: I've used them (Aguila SSS) in .22LR bowling pin matches where some of the full size pins were heavy from larger caliber lead. I was using a Ruger MK-II and the groups were about an inch at 50 feet. The same gun with ammo that it likes will do one hole at that distance. For the pin shoot it was fine and because the case is a 22 short you won't get any stove pipes. They don't shoot all the well out of a rifle unless you get a special 1 in 9 twist.

I bought a couple of bricks and it seemed to knock the pins over a little better. It was accurate enough to hit the pin tops at 50 feet, but was not worth buying any more.

If you have a Ruger MK-II Competition try the Aguila Super SE Extra High Velocity. For a buck a box it will outshoot my Ely and Wolf Target - but only in the Ruger.

Hmmmmmmm.... I may have to try that - I suspect the aguilas would be good squirrel medicine.

Choose reliable first.
Having seen GSWs them little fellers can do damage, bounce around and get hid in the darndest places. Seen frangibles and such just break skin, same with some HPs, dang cheap 40 gr LRN is what the last two I saw get hit with...next time I saw them we were harvesting their organs.

Reliable first, always.

"some things don't react to well to bullets in here"...ask a carotid or femeral a.
