I'm a bail agent in of some more specialized equipment and I've experimented with Blackhawk gear in the past with decen success, but I feel that before I invest more money I should pose this question:

For those of you with professional (military & law enforcement, not weekend warrior) experience with Blackhawk Tactical gear --from vests, to pads, holsters, to boots, etc., what is your opinion? Good brand to stick with on everything? Overly overhyped? What do you think?

No offense guys, but no mall ninjas...

Well, I'm not exactly (or even kind of) working for any sort of Spec-Ops group, but for daily wear and tear on an Army deployment, my sling is holding up pretty well. I had a pair of their gloves, too...SOLAG. Great gloves. I like the SERPA holster.

I won't say that they make the best of everything. Their nylon is good product. Not the best, but generally a pretty safe bet. If you want the best, roll on over to Lightfighter forums and ask those guys what they use. You'll hear names of shops like Tactical Tailor, John Willis (SOE Gear), etc.

I ordered it for a few guys in my dept, I wasn't impressed, Uncle Mike's is as good as any and way cheaper than most.

Did you know little mall ninjas grow up to be "bail agents"?

ha ha ha

I could make you a sweet deal on some Safariland gear....

I should take offense to that but, to be honest, I'm embarassed by 90% of the guys in my field, so I'm actually going to agree on that one! :uhoh: Deal on Safariland, eh? I'm definately interested. What do you have?

So Blackhawk, as a rule, is good but not the top echelon? How do the products of Eagle, Spec-Ops, etc. fall into rank?

Uncle Mike's gear costs less than half of what most of the hot shot stuff goes for. I had an open budget for three years to get tactical gear for my 8-10 guys, we tried just about everything available that was in spec. My conclusion is that for good working gear, I had to look no further than Uncle Mike's. The rest of that super crazy stuff is just a "Billy Badass" costume, some of that gear I would be embarrassed to wear, even though it's functional.

If you do bail enforcement I would recommend nice horse hide gear, stick with really professional looking stuff. The old timers never fool around with kydex or nylon, and they get respect.

If I was a con sitting on my porch and some guy got out of his car pretending to be the Punisher, well...

The only Safariland I've got left is a RH thigh holster for a FS Beretta. Safariland is good stuff too, it's about a 7 on the ninja scale though. If you want it let me know, it aint gonna be real cheap though.
