Cutting a stock with a crescent butt

I have an old Ithaca SKB 20 Gauge O/U with a nice Pachmayr recoil pad.

The LOP is almost 15", too long for me, and too long for a 26" 20 Gauge field gun.

The butt has a crescent shape, and I would like to cut off about 1/2" and keep the shape if possible.

Anyone know the best way to do this?

You could use a compass or <similar woodworking tool I can't remember the name of> to trace the edge profile. Then cut it on a bandsaw, tying it into a cradle to keep it level keeps you from canting.

You can roll your own tool as well, bent nail through a dowel.
