I don't think so. I think you are confusing him with the Sheriff of Orange County.

JerryM June 8, 2007, 07:38 PM While I like those in support of the 2nd, that does not give them license to pull such shenanigans as Baca.

Just not Baca...
Jim Diver June 8, 2007, 08:15 PM No. Baca is not a friend to the 2nd.
Pilgrim June 8, 2007, 08:48 PM Sheriff Baca was caught trying to create a special reserve force of celebrities so he could give them concealed weapons permits. They required no reserve training to qualify. They did not have to perform any duties.

Colt46 June 8, 2007, 09:28 PM It's a system to reward political cronies in this state. My local sheriff at least isn't corrupt. She said that nobody gets one from her. So far it seems she has stood by that.
langenc June 8, 2007, 10:06 PM "My local sheriff at least isn't corrupt. She said that nobody gets one from her. So far it seems she has stood by that."
Unconstitutional but not corrupt-what is worse??
Daedalus7 June 8, 2007, 10:38 PM Yeah Baca definitely is anti-CCW and corrupt (yet somehow, he stays in office.... hmmm) - his "executive reserve corps" was disbanded after one "reserve deputy" was arrested by the FBI for money laundering, and another was charged after he pointed his weapon at innocent civlians.
While the LASO is a progressive department in that they have some of the most advanced research going on into new police tools and techniques and are usually the ones to bring out a new technology like bean-bag shotgun rounds, Baca is a moron and should be thrown out of office. Unfortunately it is ridiculously hard to unseat an incumbant because of stupid people who either don't vote or simply vote for the incumbant for no reason.
Hopefully, Sheriff Carona will set an example that the rest of the state will eventually follow.
tasco 74 June 8, 2007, 10:45 PM i guess you keep forgetting the peoples republic of kaleefooornya is full of morons who are still in office .......... for some reason...................

Completely WRONG. Baca is almost as anti as they come. Sherif Corona in Orange county is who you describe.
I can't wait until the next election he's out. County commissioners don't like him CCW'ers hate him he is "NO ISSUE". And because of the stupid comments he made in today's press conference about the system being "completely broken", It's his system and he's done nothing to fix it, violates the law as much as any criminal.
Don Meredith for LA County Sheriff 2010
QuickDraw June 9, 2007, 01:11 AM Ahhh,Corona. He's the one I was thinking about.
Sorry for the confusion.
Geronimo45 June 9, 2007, 01:21 AM This isn't a Paris Hilton thread!!
Good. I was wondering if I should post a "what caliber for Paris Hilton?" thread.
Mojo-jo-jo June 9, 2007, 01:22 AM I understand that he makes getting a ccw almost

For millionaire celebrities. For average "Joe's, " he's no-issue.
jojosdad June 9, 2007, 01:36 AM what caliber for Paris Hilton?
I'd guess a real big bore. :neener:
JP1954 June 9, 2007, 02:00 AM Hey Quickdraw.....So you are the other conservative I heard about in the bay area...:D
Caimlas June 9, 2007, 02:58 AM Unconstitutional but not corrupt-what is worse??
I may not agree with someone's moral stance, but at least they're willing to make one. Yes, that is the realm of egomaniacs, tyrants, and sociopaths, but people
Which isn't to say that such behavior will be exonerated. I'm just trying to provide rhetoric to support the idea that taking a stand on a flawed premise and staying within what you perceive to be the rules and what is right is better than taking the low road of self-interest and fulfillment.
ETA: Isn't baca a Spanish or Italian word for something?
jselvy June 9, 2007, 06:26 AM Baka is Japanese for Idiot
Jefferson
KMKeller June 9, 2007, 08:22 AM Vaca is spanish for cow... Baca is spanish for... roof rack?
longeyes June 9, 2007, 10:53 AM Baca and Bratton--the best law enforcement you can buy.
SoCal is blessed by this mighty duo.

Senator Feinstein stands with LA County Sheriff Lee Baca and LA Police Chief William Bratton from the Los Angeles Police Department to express the importance of reauthorizing the assault weapons ban.

kcmarine June 9, 2007, 01:36 PM Yep. He's a goner.
Doesn't he know THR's policy on photos? If you and Feinstein are in the same photo, we can't like you. Sorry. We could have been friends.
QuickDraw June 9, 2007, 02:54 PM Hey Quickdraw.....So you are the other conservative I heard about in the bay area...
There appears to be a couple of us!
Vastly out numbered though.
longeyes June 9, 2007, 05:44 PM You must be joking
Definitely a possibility. :D
ghschirtz June 9, 2007, 06:31 PM I live under the thumb of Baca re CCW.
Nobody gets one execpt celebs or wealthy. Even celebs with drug or alcohol problems can have theirs.
Hoepfully he will lose the next election and we can move ahead.
badge4436 June 9, 2007, 06:34 PM Man do you have Baca wrong as far as CCW for civilians! Take it from a guy who spent 28 years on LASD.
LASD has always made it very difficult for civilians to get CCW's. LAPD is the same way.
MY God was my recent trip to Pahrump, Nevada a breath of fresh air. Brothels and open carry both legal....kind of like Lonesome Dove! A real breath of Freedom for a guy from the Peoples Republic. (Had the wife with me for you guys who are wondering.)

Yes all the more reason for California to be Shall issue and take the decisionout of the hands of Ploice & Sheriff's. Only qualificartions should be Background check, CCW class and profiency test. Yes I believe you should prove you can hit what you're aiming at.
Funny how Ben Aflac & Sylvester Stalone can get CCW's but ordinary folk even with good cause can't.
TMAS June 9, 2007, 09:58 PM What's with all the upper LEO' types and the general stars? Does this guy think he's Ole Ike? Last I remember the Commandant of the USMC was a 4 Star General.
What a joke.
Nil June 9, 2007, 11:11 PM I'd guess a real big bore.
I'd actually lean the other way. Taking into account her waifish, sickly appearance, I figure a .22lr would be more than enough. If she doesn't count as a varmint, what does?
Jim March June 9, 2007, 11:56 PM Baca has a bit of a fixation over celebrities. Somebody else getting to be downright infamous around here also has a celebrity "thing" going on. And hmmmm...interesting...they share a religion. One that caters to a lot of Hollywood celebrities.
Bit of a coincidence?
JP1954 June 11, 2007, 01:56 AM Is it just me or does that Sheriff look like Rudy Guliani ?.......:p
nemoaz June 11, 2007, 02:08 AM Had the wife with me for you guys who are wondering.
You had your wife at a brothel?
nemoaz June 11, 2007, 02:10 AM I'd guess a real big bore.
I'd actually lean the other way.
Methinks you missed the joke. I agree. Probably very, very big bore by now.
glockman19 June 11, 2007, 02:13 AM Aparently the 11:00 news says a recall for Baca will begin collecting signatures tomorrow. Also said DON'T do it online where he'll have access to your name.
Cliff47 June 11, 2007, 09:43 AM Nil, I feel you are on the right track as far as caliber goes. How does a .22 blank sound??
TYY June 12, 2007, 04:38 AM friend of the 2nd amendment
No, but he is a friend to the scientologists.
AF_INT1N0 June 12, 2007, 05:59 AM LEO like Sheriff Baca are exactly why California needs to go Shall issue. He is the embodiment of the corruption inherant in the California Justice system.
Kentak June 12, 2007, 08:20 AM iGSR96
Thanks for the video link. Baca's own words make clear he is no friend of RKBA.
Diverdave June 12, 2007, 09:02 AM Sheriff Baca. Is his nickname Chewy?
Art Eatman June 12, 2007, 01:43 PM Since this has dropped down to "Can you top this?" for bashing...
