Driving yesterday and an ad for Dave's Guns in Warwick, RI came on the radio. I don't recall ever hearing a gun shop ad on the radio before.
Do they happen in other states?

I've heard a radio ad for Gander Mountain, and maybe another place like that. The gun/sporting goods store commercials do exist, but they are rare.

Did you read the letter that some lady wrote into the Chieftain about the
Speciaty Sports billboard on 4th St. She said something to the effect that
it wasn't right for "children" to see that sort of thing. It has a picture of a
"big" handgun. Sorry don't remember make or model. I'll look more closely
next time by.

I hear radio ads for gujnshops from time to time, but the consensus by most shop owners seems to be that the cost to benefit ratio is too high. Gunshops generate most of their businesss by word of mouth.

I wouldn't take the radio add as a sign, good or bad. Like any other commercial entity, airtime is about $$. Whoever is willing to pay enough gets it. Most small gunshops simply don't have or aren't willing to part with the cash for something that is likely to bring only a modicum of business in at best.

Sometimes hear Turner's adds in So Cal. They also have commercials on some
cable channels.

No, Junkyard Dog, I didn't see that letter. I wish I had.

The gun on the billboard is a S&W M&P.

I hear ads on the radio for Davi's here in Raleigh all the time. Unfortunately they have high prices and a 3 second between shots rule on the range and are posted "no concealed carry", so I don't go there.

Can you believe it? American Shooting Center, a great shooting range/gun shop here in San Diego, CA, advertises on the tube and over the radio. They emphasize gun safety, and their TV ads show some nice shots of several shooters, firing away. Nice to see in Southern California.
