Hevi-Shot buckshot

I was at the sporting goods store looking for some new camo-rain gear (which I found) and was pleasantly surprised to find out Hevi-shot was manufacturing 00 buck loads. Apparently there made from tungsten, nickel and iron; the box proclaimed they penetrated 20% farther than standard lead buckshot. Their web site showed a decent hog taken cleanly with the stuff.

1. Anyone have any more information or experience with the stuff?
2. Should I expect barrel damage from using it?
3. Is it a cure for the lack of penetration often found in lead factory loads?

Read some reviews that spoke highly of it, but I haven't tried it myself. Too rich for my blood, I'm afraid- I can't afford it.

1) none

2) Based on my experience with duck and goose loads, probably not if you use an IC or MOD choke. The plastic wads are pretty thick.

3) I don't know about a cure, but I suspect it's great. I know #4 and #6 HS will hammer a Mallard or Canada at reasonably long ranges.

I don't think they make buckshot, but have you read about tungsten super shot? Talk about penetration at very long range (and high price.)

One user contacted me a while back and praised the stuff. IIRC, 10" spread at 25 yards using an IC choke. I deleted the PM long ago.

Worth a try, though it is expensive.
