I have an old SxS with hammers, Belgium laminated steel barrels, checkered fore stock and a partial name on the block. I can make out "OXAORO ARMS CO." sn:16568 It has the Belgium liege markings and JC stamped both onthe barrel and block. Also have an old Western field 12ga. Dbl. with checkered stocks sn:249604 wondering who built it and what year? I know it was distributed by Montgomery Ward & Co..

I think this will answer your questions on the old shotgun. Oxford Arms Co. is listed, as you will see.

This is a Trade Name shotgun ( made for retail under another name ). If it's so worn that the marking can't be read, probable no more than 50 dollars.

I suppose it is not necessary to say so, but please don't try to shoot that old Damascus barrel shotgun with any loads, even black powder. Most of those guns are so old and rusted out that blown barrels are common and sometimes when the barrel goes, a hand or fingers go along.
