Hello all:

I am fishing for some thoughts. Because my Taurus PT 145 is out of commission, and apparently will be for some time, I am looking for a replacement. I have done quite a bit of research and have come to the Smith & Wesson Chief's Special in .45 caliber as a likely candidate.

It fits my list of wants/needs that I was looking for in the PT145: .45 and small. It does not have the capacity of the PT145, but hey that's what extra mags are for right?

I am wondering if anyone has one of these little guns, the CS45 that is, and if so, what your experience has been.

Thanks in advance for your time,

Jim

I'm chiming in quite late, but I have a CS40. Same gun for the most part. Excellent reliability thus far and I think I've put more rounds through it than it's original owner. And I'm only in the hundreds myself. No hiccups yet.

I too am chiming late....and also have a CS40, best all around carry gun I've found since I retired my LW Colt Commander.

I've fired my reloaded tame lead SWC's w/o any problems at all, something my last 40 cal (a Ruger) couldn't do.

IMHO that is the true test of a functional arm.

Good luck - hope you've found one, bought it and carry it.
