The Social Security Numbers of THR

Tell me if I'm paranoid.
We now have threads on Faces of THRees, Jobs of THRees, Military Service of THRees, pics of our gun safes, our collections, reloading facilities... etc.
What's next? "Social Security Numbers of THR?"
Seeing as how I'm both (A) from the Big City and (B) almost seven decades old, I've learned with much pain and suffering to "watch out for the scam."
So some of you data base whizzes and spybot sharpies tell me if I'm paranoid.
Or maybe just "overcautious."

If you worry about such things, don't post the information. Seems pretty simple to me.

I'm with CajunBass on this one. If you don't want it known, don't post it, YOU make the choice for you.

no one is compelling you to put anything on here.
Also there was a pics of safes thread and somebody objected which was countered by someone posting their COMBO to the safe.

My social security number may or may not contain 8 digits, that may or may not contain numbers from 0-9.

I agree with 230RN. Entirely too much personal information is available to others at the press of a button. Look at all the financial out sourced support to India and other countries. I'm not going to make in any easier for them.

Who needs social security, I gots me some XD security :D
Yea, you aren’t really being paranoid about the SSN's, if someone were to get those you'd be in trouble. Pictures of faces and homes are not so bad, if someone really wants them that information is usually locatable anyway. (Actually, SSN's are accessible too, problem is you have to match a number to a picture to a name, that isn't all that easy to do at all, unless you have given the information out, but noone can halp u if u incist on acking stoopid).
The only problem I have with picts is like the one I saw once where somebody had taken a picture of their gun safe and on a piece of paper sitting on the table next to it, clearly visible on that paper were numbers written like this XX – XX – XX
A quick email sent out and the pictures disappeared, imagine that...
For the most part it is fairly safe posting names/faces/safes/job status, just don't give any identifying information other than that and you'll be fine
Just don't ack stoopid.

Tell me if I'm paranoid ... Or maybe just "overcautious."You're not paranoid. You would be paranoid if you thought some entity is able to get your SSN if you merely post here (and BTW, they can). Overly cautious? Perhaps. However, I doubt that any member in good standing would start a thread as ludicrous as asking for SSN's. I also seriously doubt that anyone here would actually post their SSN if such a thread was started. What you would get would be a series of posts exactly like you got here. Interspersed among the silliness would be a few posts advising against posting a SSN and calling the OP a troll. One or two members will finally push the little red "report this post" button. If the moderators hadn't already seen the thread, deleted it and banned the perp, they would do so at that time.
You have to have a little faith in the intelligence of the general populace, especially of THR. When that intelligence is shown to be lacking, then the government (THR staff) should step in, but not until then.
