A good read, I enjoyed it. That website in general has good stuff.

Probably didn't get many replies because the title doesn't really give any information to someone who's not familiar with the term.

To attain perfection, the bodhisattva must master:
generosity
discipline
patience
energy
meditation
wisdom
:)

It looks to be an interesting site, but it takes more than an hour to digest it.

It works. I read this some time back and practiced it and it was extremely helpful in improving my shooting. I am in the process of re-reading it now thanks to you, SaMx. I also plan on recommending it to some of my students.

Interesting. I have more than a passing interest in the underlying philosophy, and I can see how it might apply.

When I was working through my flinch, I realized that it wasn't so much my technique that was the issue, but it was things like irrational (internalized) fears and misunderstanding. As I got more comfortable shooting, I let go of those things, and the flinch went away. It was definitely a Zen (or Tao) thing.

Also, if you think about it, focusing on the front sight is a lot like mindfulness meditation practice, where you pick something like the breath to focus upon.

You complained an hour after posting. That's not very ZEN, is it?

It's not just bullseye pistol that can be enhanced by Zen awareness. Over at brian enos' forums (brianenos.com), there's a whole subforum dedicated to Zen thought (if that's not an oxymoron) as it applies to action pistol and 3-gun sports.

What are hours, anyway?

Actually, it's a good topic. Good shooting should be akin to meditation.

Awareness. It applies to shooting...and to eating...and to walking...and to working...and to making love...and to...

Wherever you are, be there.
