Would you all recommend me buying the rings only system for my new Tikka, or should I buy bases and rings? I am thinking of putting on the Warne rings desinged for the Tikka's reciever rail, but I am so used to doing the weaver or leupold standard system, I am hesitant. What do you all recommend? Thanks!!!

The Warne rings should work without any problems. I have the Tikka rings on my 300 WSM T3 and have well over 500 rounds fired through the rifle. The scope and rings have not moved since being mounted. The Tikka rings mount on the dovetail very similar to the Warne rings.

30-06 Lover;

I have used the Warne rings a couple of times. They are well built, sturdy, & do the job at reasonable cost. They're big, clunky, and heavy.

When I got my Tikka .338 Winchester magnum, I mounted the scope with Burris rings & bases. The Burris set-up couldn't do the job of stabilizing the scope. I then went to a set of Warne's, which worked well. But did I mention that they're heavy? When I recently changed scopes, I also changed the mounts & went to a set of Talley lightweights.

I have a walking varminter that also has a set of Warne rings. Since that rifle is distinctly lighter than the above mentioned Tikka, and used on different terrain, the weight of the Warne's is not nearly as significant.

The .338 is the elk, moose, bear, gun & that hunting usually involves mountainous terrain. The varminter is usually used on much less difficult ground.
