I'm a fan of badger grips, which can be found over at http://www.badgercustomgrips.com
They don't do checkered grips, but they are very high quality and nice looking grips, if you should choose to go another route than checkered. Same deal with Ahrends, oustanding grips, but no chekered. http://ahrendsgripsusa.com/revolver.htm

I agree with hexidismal, both makers have fine stocks if you decide to go with smooth over checkered. I'm a big fan of Ahrends myself. The last two sets of wooden grips I bought were Ahrends.

I have been drooling over the Nills for awhile. I have a set on my Sig and they're outstanding but the wait time is a killer.

It looks like they're still my #1 option.

I was going to say Hogue also. I've had several of their grips, and they have the sharpest checkering I ever saw. Lots of interesting woods, too.
