After shooting with the Geezers and with Superreverb's daughter yesterday, I headed for Range 8 for some practice. The Wobble trap on 7 was broken. Sigh....
I was setting up when a youngish man and a younger woman walked up. He asked if they could shoot with me and said she had little experience.
She toted a Browning Gold auto and he a very nice Purdey. They are Nikki and J Ruffy, and I hope the spelling's correct.
I said sure, of course and said I didn't mind new shooters, in fact I helped a few start off myself.
She did OK the first round and I found myself in the Zone. Targets came up like washtubs in slow motion,I had solid visual locks on the leading molecules thereof and I erased them. I did miss two, but know why.
Next round he shot the Purdey, and he shot well. Good form, no wasted movement and smooth as butter. She hit a good number and had fun doing it.
We talked a little. They were Lobbyists.
PGC has a couple days a year set aside for Capitol Hill Congresspeople, staff and lobbyists get to come out and shoot. Lessons and guns are provided as needed. Yesterday was such a day.
Now think about it. Imagine you could set aside a day at your favorite range and get your elected officials out there. They could see things like just how many of us there are and what the real gun lobby is like. And what 99% of the guns we have are used for.
Of course, there's only one DC and that's enough. But there are State Capitols, county seats, etc.
How about it?
