I've owned several Police Positive Specials over the years and always loved their frame design and excellent accuracy, but they're a bit long in the tooth for CCW so I don't usually hang onto them. The Detective Special is of course a shortened PPS, but getting one has presented two major problems. First of all, I won't buy old Colts on line because doing a hand inspection for timing problems is critical. Secondly, any DS I found in the flesh has been overpriced or badly abused. Finally I found a 50's era second generation DS with perfect timing and solid lockup. Price at three bills was reasonable. It appears to have been carried a lot and shot a little. I'm going to carry it with a Null holster.

The old Royal blue is still on most of it, though there are spots in the white from wear and a little cold blue touch up underneath.

Nice, Very Nice. My dads gun of choice is a Colt Agent, pencil barrel, etc. Gun is as tight as the day it was produced. The first generation DS's sweet guns, better than the full lug later models IMHO. They are more nostalgic looking also. Nice Find, Bill

My favorite carry revolver -- I have its virtual twin.

I found some PPS MOP stocks, unfortunately they're not rounded on the edges. I cleaned the lockwork out. Apart from being mind-boggling like Colt lockwork always is, it was in mint condition. No rust at all.
