Howdy. Iam lookin for a Remington 870 barrel for my shotty. I either want an 18.5" or if anyone could find one, a 20". I have searched, and all I seem to find is deer barrels. I found one other cylender bore barrel in 18.5", but it was like $150. And I know I can find them somewhere for cheaper than that. So please help me in my search for a barrel. That is all...thank you.

Mossberg also makes 870 barrels....but I'm not sure if they are much cheaper then $150.
You could always cut down a used barrel.

Haven't checked prices lately (the PDF file takes too long to load) but Remington was selling new 870 12 ga. 18" bead-sighted barrels for $96. Give 'em a call on their toll free number and see what they have in stock.

Or shop around your local dealers, ask if they have any spare 870 barrels put back. You might get a better price on a used barrel that will still work just fine.

Midway USA has them for $99.

I went with the 20 inch IC rifle sighted smoothbore. Just cuz it's a deer barrel don't mean it ain't a fine HD barrel too. I paid 129.00 at Bass Pro Shops.

The ones under $100 are made by Mossberg for Remington guns. The cheapest I could find the Remington-made ones was at Cabela's:

I prefer rifle sights on a defense shotty. Actually I prefer a ghost rear and a front night site. No reason to shy away from a barrel just because it is called a "deer barrel" and wears sights. The ability for more precise shots favored by deer hunters may also be important to you some day... say if you have to make a head shot while some goblin is holding a loved one.

I'd go with the rifle sight model(if you want sights) as well for the extra barrel.
The sights will help with slugs at longer ranges but you can switch back to a longer bead barrel for wingshooting...

Exactly, I get 5 shot 5 inch groups at 100 yds with cheap federal slugs with this barrel. I've also got a 28 inch barrel I switch back to for Dove hunting and deer hunting with buckshot.

I have a question on the 20" deer barrel. Does this have rifling? Or is it just smooth bore with choke? Or just cylender bore? Also can the deer sights be taken off the barrel? I have some nice ghost ring sights, and heat shield I'd use on it. Another reason I want the 20" is because I can hold 8 shells enstead of 7 with the 18" :o . So what's the deal with this barrel?

To answer your questions:
1) No, smoothbore.
2) It is an Improved Cylinder barrel. For rifled slugs a little bit of choke is a good thing. It also throws nice buckshot patterns to 25 yds or so.
3) Yes the rifle sights can be taken off. They attach the same way the rifle sights on a Rem 700 attach. Remove a few screws and off they come.
Some questions for you. Ghost ring sights and heat shield. Please tell me ATI didn't make it?

A heat shield? Why?
Does this have rifling? It depends on the barrel. I don't think that it would matter much for home defense either way. And the rifling would definitely give you more range with slugs if you choose to take a longer shot.

Remington makes 20" factory barrels in a number of configurations. They come both smoothbore AND rifled, your choice. Some have CYL bores (older ones), current production will have IMP CYL fixed chokes for the most part though some have RemChokes installed at the factory. Some are set up for cantilever scope mounts, some have rifle type sights.
No need to worry about a heat shield, unless you need to add weight to the gun. It ain't gonna get that hot, and if it does, just keep your hands on the stock and forearm where they belong. Ghost rings are nice (though expensive) if properly installed, but if you have a heat shield with sights on it then the rear sight is going to be too far forward to work as a real ghost ring.
Better to stick with the factory issue open sights on the barrel. The sight bases are silver soldered on, it would take a gunsmith to get them off and then the barrel would have to be refinished as well.

Are they really soldered on? Mine look just like the sights I took off my 700. Maybe I better look closer. Not that I intend to take mine off. They work great as is. :)
