View Full Version : What type of handgun do you carry most?

What type of handgun do you carry most? Although I have other larger weapons, I carry a S&W j-frame more than any other handgun. So, regardless of how many 1911's or Desert Eagled that you own, what do you carry most often? Choose only one. Looking forward to your responses.
Thanks,
David

Whoops, this thing got away from me without the poll; let's try again....sorry...please look for the version with the poll before posting. Thanks

It depends on what I'm carrying for. It the woods, more and more I carry the Holy Grail, my Colt Woodsman made in 1938. For defense, I carry my Kimber Classic, or sometimes drop my Colt Detective Special in my pocket.

Trick question? One that's loaded. :)

Kahr PM40 ~70%, S&W SC360, ~15% Kel-Tec P3AT ~10%, Kimber Ultra Carry ~5%. I go with the biggest I can conceal with the way I'm dressed.

I just put it (in a Mikas Holster) in my pocket and go...
This isn't my preferred weapon, but is the one that goes with me most frequently.

Kind of like what Vern mentioned; depends on the occasion/attire...Lately, with leisurely clothes: the PPK in a .380 is getting most of my attention...

For Concealed carry, I most often carry my Taurus 605 revolver in .357. On occasion I have carried other of my handguns, but it's pretty rare. I bought the 605 specifically to be my CCW gun, and thus it is what I carry 99.5% of the time. To supplement this gun, my next gun purchase will be a Kel-Tec in .380. There are times when a smaller pocket gun just fills the bill for me better than any other choice.

In the woods, it depends. Most often I carry my Ruger MkII, but when I am deep in the woods, I switch to my Ruger P90 in .45. As of two weekends ago, I will now be carrying my new S&W 66-1 in .357. The only other gun I carry into the woods with any regularity other than the above mentioned is, again, my 605.

I love my MkII's, and have no plans to get rid of either one of them, but I happen to have a H&R Sportsman 999 that I flat out love, at least when it is working. I need to get it to a gunsmith to get it fixed once and for all, but once it's good, it may replace my MkII's as my "carry" .22. I have also contemplated picking up a single-six to take into the woods. I enjoy shooting autos, but the revolver is, IMHO, the more rugged choice. If nothing else, there aren't as many places for crap to go if I happen to fall into the river!

PT145 Taurus, I like its small stature and 10+1 capacity.

Have a holster coming for the S&W CS40. Will probably carry it long enough to break the holster in real well.

Then I'll ring my hands as to which one I like best. I really dig the hogue style grip on the 40, but the 7+1 magazine has me practicing at the range feeling a little under capacitied (is that a word) because I'm so used to squeezing off 11 rounds. Really dig the DA/SA trigger though and the decocker safety.

Taurus 605. Pocket carry or OWB. When I can, I carry a Taurus 9mm Milpro.

I used to carry my Bersa .380 CC 90% of the time. Then I got a decent belt and holster for my XD-40 Service. Now I carry the XD 60-70% of the time. I do think I will be getting an XD-40 Subcompact for IWB though. The grip on the Service tends to dig my ribs when I sit in an IWB.

SP101, all year, every day, no "rotation." I may be wearing a SIG duty pistol at work, but the SP101 is on me, too. I may be carrying a 4" .357 sixgun, but the SP101 is still with me. I sometimes carry more than one SP101.

A Baby Browning goes with me everywhere. (Except not today because the @#*$ magazine broke) It fits in the change pocket of my Wranglers perfectly. When the weather allows me to wear an appropriate cover garment or when I'm open carrying, I go with a long action S&W Military and Police revolver with a 6" barrel.

Nice guns -- is that a Randall with them?

Lemesee -- I have a Fed Ord "Kit Gun." They sent me a bag full of parts and a couple of hunks of steel and told me to file away everything that didn't look like a frame or a slide. I have a Ciener .22 Conversion kit mounted on that one

Then I have a Model 1927 Argentine -- great gun, a 1930s-era Colt made like Colt used to make them. Currently I have a Colt Service Ace conversion kit mounted on it -- the one with the (in)famous floating chamber.

And I carry a Kimber Classic

Nope; but it is a mighty fine, Damascus-steel, razor-sharp blade handcrafted by a gentleman I had the good fortune to hire into a pipefitter position 20-some-odd years ago. He is immensely talented, developed an interest in knife-making, and a few months ago (I hadn't worked with him in years), stopped by to present me with this piece . . . it IS lovely!
