Picked up my new CZ 97 last week and put some rounds through it on Saturday. Very nice platform to launch .45ACP projectiles from! It shoots to point of aim, (20yds) nice, no messing with sights (especially being fixed!) and soaks up recoil nicely. I fed it several varieties of ammo and it ate them all with aplomb, even the "flying ashtray" Magtech JHPs. The grip is a bit on the fat side, but I still was able to shoot DA without any problem, though most of the time I will be shooting it SA, as in IDPA CDP division, "cocked & locked". I don't have a holster for it yet, though one is on order (FIST) and I hope to have it by mid-July.
The take down is very simple, although the screw in barrel bushing is a bit unusual, but still easy to handle.
I'm eager to shoot it in a match, I think it's gonna be fun, as it's a natural pointer and the SA trigger is very smooth. In fact, this trigger is better out of the box than my CZ 75B, which has thousands of rounds through it in the last 1.5 years. Mind you, it's no 1911 trigger;) , but it's as good a CZ trigger as I've felt.
So, it's a keeper!

I actually will be the proud owner of my own either this or early next week.....cant wait. Ive got a couple hundred rounds of 230 +P Fed Tacticals for it as a carry if I feel like it.

Now I just gotta make a killer IWB holster for it..............

Nice holster Eric, the only thing I'd add to it is a bit of re-inforcement around the opening, to help keep it open for reholstering. Of course, I don't CCW, so I look at holsters from the IDPA match point of view.

Prog....Very nice pics...too bad I couldnt do a 97/Kimber comparison while I had mine. I did a very informal comp. of the CZ SA Custom and the Kimber...both will outshoot me..LOL :rolleyes: :D
Maybe a 97/Custom SA shoot out in the future...eh?

And I CAN do the holster shown with a retention ring around the opening..it just requires going from a med ride to a high ride design..........

Glad you like the 97B! I've had mine for a little over a year, and absolutely love it. Like you've mentioned, it is very accurate and soaks up recoil nicely.

You might want to think about installing a stronger recoil spring, as the stock one tends to be a bit on the weak side (apparently rated at about 13 lbs., according to posts on CZForum.com), and might result in excessive frame battering if you shoot hot loads. I have a 22 lb. spring in mine. The felt recoil was greatly improved, and it cycles perfectly even with my relatively mild handloads.

My only lament about the 97B is that no one currently makes a set of synthetic aftermarket grips for it. The stock walnut grips look great, but they do ding rather easily (I'm currently on my second set of factory grips from CZ).

Great looking CZ97b. I always love to hear about another one coming home to a new owner :) . Mine has a stronger recoil spring and Hogue grips. I like the feel of the Hogue grips on the 97. They are actually the grips for the CZ75b, it just takes a little stretching to get them on. Some people heat them up.
They are great shooters!

Like 12 Volt Man, my CZ97B has the stiffer Wolff recoil spring (18 lbs, I think) and the Hogue grips for the CZ75B. I simply heated them in boiling water for 30 seconds, dried them quickly, and attached them. It did take a bit of stretching, but the grip is much improved. An incredibly accurate pistol and a joy to shoot. Enjoy yours.

If you are a reloader, watch the overall length. My 97b does not like 45 acp rounds over about 1.265COL for ball ammo. 1.272 is the jam point. I usually load to 1.262 or 1.260 for 230 grn hardball and it works perfectly.

Great gun, my glossy has the best polish of any of my guns.
