Any chance we can get a forum for discussing the proper techniques in gun rearing of yougsters? All kid related issues seem to end up in General or scattered through-out and are hard to track down and find.

The emphasis would be on proper guns and techniques for kids.

Please!!!!

Excellent idea. A lotof people have guns around kids, but are no way near compulsive enough aboiut self discipline to make good owners out of their kids.
For instance, I always kept all guns locked at all times, Gun locks on each, and locked in the gun case, then later in the safe.
When using them, I always took them to the range in a case, and always reviewed the 4 rules each and every time.
When at the range, I ran the line like a profesional, every single time. Especially when shooting with more than one kid, and most especially when shooting with kids who are not mine.
Finally, when in the field, I walk behind the kids, and direct all fire, and sacrifice any of my own shooting. Except when we are in the Prairie Dog town. Then we set up shooting stations, and I get to shoot too.
Being disciplined is important. No alcohol when the guns are out. Ever.

I hear what you are saying.

WE encourage titles to have Kids, Youth, Ladies, Elderly...etc., in with the Title.

Kids are matriculated into the THR as are the rest of the membership.
Just like when we were kids, adults treated us like big people and and not like a "kid".
[OK, so they still spoiled us, but they did not look down on us ;)]

No matter the sub-forum, anyone can share and participate.

For instance I started a thread in Shotguns Recipes for Younger Shotgunners Needed.
http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=283606

So anyone with a kid/youth, doing a search for a less recoil loading for a kid/ youth, for a shotgun, would naturally go to Shotgun sub-forum to look for one, and find one.

We have had threads with "kids" , or "youth" in the titles from a kids first Hunt, to Rifle to General Handgun , to Buy/Sell/Trade

We encourage folks to share experiences, strength and hope with others.

Ladies do "lady only" threads in all the sub forums and I know guys read these and they learn, share with ladies in their life, and we know, many guys would have missed out on some really great threads if just a lady only sub-forum.

Sticking that thread with "kid" or "ladies" , or whatever specific interest group in with existing sub forums facilitates searches and keeps THR easier to navigate.

I know for a fact some kids get a big kick out seeing themselves in with the bigger folks, reading about other kids and all.

Steve
