CCW Poll: Caliber, location

Since the pocket gun poll seems popular. I figured I would do this.

I didn't list smaller calibers because of size limits of poll and because I think most of those would be covered on Pocket Poll.

Note you can vote for more than one category. Say primary and BUG or main carry and occasional carry.

If caliber not listed please post in thread.

Greeting's All-

My caliber choice for CCW is the .45ACP, and
is carried on the strong side.

Best Wishes,

Most of the time it is a 45 caliber Colt 1991A1 in a Desantis Inner Piece IWB holster on the strong side.

1911 on strong side, Kahr P9 on the off side (so I can walk straight down the street).;)

9mm at 1 o'clock. That's strong side, but not what one would usually think of when told 'strong side.'

Most of the time I carry 1911 on the strong side. Occasionally though I'll carry a compact USP.

I carry a Makarov in 9mm Makarov (aka 9X18 ). That caliber wasn't on the list :cuss:

Well I guess you can't put every caliber on the poll, so I'll forgive you this time ;)

I carry it IWB, cross-draw stlye. I like cross-draw because it is easyer to get at my handgun from a sitting postition (for example, if I'm sitting in my car), and I can draw it with my left hand if my right was un-avalible for some reason. I can't draw left-handed with my gun on my right hip...

My choices are: 45acp, strong side IWB, BUT since I live in the Peoples Republik of Kalifornistan, I DON'T GET TO CARRY CCW so I didn't vote in the poll.

Seems 45 and 9x19 are much more popular than 357 & 40. I was expecting more 40. Thought it would be closer to 9x19.

I wonder why? Don't get me wrong, I am not a fan or opponent of 40. Just was expecting more people to be using it.

1911 strong IWB at 0430
P-11 strong IWB at 0430
sometimes the 1911 strong and the P-11 to weak IWB @ 0800

I have to adapt a lot here of late, have to be "inventive".
Does an old dictionary count? Did you know in 1964 there is a "listing" for Keltec in the "K's"? :D

You really need to add .32ACP. It's a very common carry caliber.

.45ACP in either my 1991A1 or C7.45 LDA at 4:00. However, since I spend a lot of time covered in road grime, tranny fluid, motor oil, antifreeze, and a little blood mixed in its usually off-body, but closeby.

New at CCW - still experimenting.

S&W 6906 in an Uncle Mike's belly band w/body armor holster (velcro), arranged two ways:

1) Belly band around midriff, just under pecs, arranged for crossdraw under my left arm. Nice and concealed in that location, under an XL T-shirt or button-down untucked. A smaller gun would give me more options - the pinky rest on the mag does protrude a bit, but I like it to shoot with.

2) Just the body armor holster, tucked under my belt so the gun is upside down with the slide parallel to the ground and the grip to my right, in reach of my strong hand. Grip protrudes about 2-3" above my belt, but the rest is totally concealed in my jeans. Move it around a little to find a comfortable fit, and then I just forget about it. I really like this setup, but I've never seen a holster designed for it. I may have to invent one...

Ruger Sp101 .357 3" mostly in a smartcarry. Occasionally crossdraw paddle or shoulder holster. Depends on the situation.
