We are planning on visiting some friends in Hayward during the week of July 4th. They have a cottage somewhere up there and while we are there I would like to get some shooting in.

From searching on the Internet there is the Hayward Rod and Gun Club but it says that it is private. Any other ranges in the area?

I just read your post, so this may be too late for you, but here is what I found for Barnes which is north of Hayward on 27:

Club members continue to care for the Barnes Rifle Range - located off County Road N, east of the Barnes transfer site. In 2005 an archery range was constructed by club members, near the rifle range. The ranges are heavily used, and require regular cleaning and repairs which are provided by the members of the ECLCC.

I don't know where the Barnes range is and apparently neither did anyone else based on the what I found while asking around. There may have been a range in Cable but it was 45 minutes away and nobody answered the phone.:(
There is a place called Dave's near Hayward that had trap on Wednesday nights but it rained that night so it was probably cancelled.

We had lots of fun boating and fishing anyway. :)
