Hi all,
This is an open book quiz. After WW1, what was one of the main reasons that US Ordnance went after a semiautomatic rifle to be standard issue to US troops ?
Watch out on this one, it could be loaded!
Have fun

Did they still believe in anti-aircraft uses for small arms?
Ask something easy, like why all proposals for new calibers were scrapped...;)

Grump,
You are correct Sir. Hi all,
The answer to this quiz is that new-fangled thing called the Airplane. It was to give the individual soldier some type of firepower to keep them, airplanes, from getting too close to strafing on moving columns of troops. Also to protect "wagon trains"? That's what Ordnace says.
Have fun
Thanks again

Wow, that was just an educated guess based on the high secrecy afforded the Pederson Device...
Plus the fact that USArmy Ordnance then was typically preparing for the LAST war.

Too bad no one told the VC/NVA that using small arms to down aircraft was obsolete. :)
