"SAMMAMISH -- McAuliffe Elementary School went into lockdown mode on its last day of classes yesterday, after reports that two suspicious young men were nearby. One was dressed in camouflage. The other had what was described as a rifle.

The suspicious activity turned out to be eight boys who were playing paintball games in the woods behind the school, said Sgt. Kevin Fagerstrom, spokesman for the King County Sheriff's Office.

The boys, believed to be middle school students, were released to their parents. While it's legal to play paintball games in King County, Fagerstrom said, the boys were given a "very strong admonishment" about doing so close to a school.

The lockdown occurred around noon and lasted between 30 to 60 minutes, according to the sheriff's office and school officials. The elementary school in unincorporated King County enrolls about 675 students."

It's legal, and they weren't doing anything wrong -- but the police detained them, called their parents, yelled at them and told them not to do it.

Poor kids.

I’ve never understood why people consider youth a time of freedom and joy. It’s probably because they've forgotten their own. -- Margaret Atwood

What do you expect-they were outside getting exercise and having fun.

I get in trouble for that all the time.

They should've being indoctrinated by the TV.

Didn't that word start out as prison slang?

Been to a public school lately? It was pretty much prison when I was there 20 years ago.
