Got to use my new IAC/Norinco model 87. It is heavy and sturdy, haven't shot slugs out of it but have no doubts it will take any high brass loads. Plastic butt plate, may get a slip on recoil pad but this will make the already long l.o.p. even longer. It also has a very long lever stroke (it's gotta be more than 90 degrees) so w/ my small frame and short arms I have to hold it up near the receiver (with my left hand) while I work the action and keep the butt in my shoulder "pocket" (no bruising though). It is A LOT of fun to shoot. It has a big brass bead (I painted it orange) and it is weird to be able to see through the bbl before "racking" and firing. The reason I got it was b/c I am just intrigued and captivated by the design (J.M. Browning)! I am at a loss for words as to how much fun this thing is to shoot. And on top of all that it is reliable! I did not have any mechanical problems at all with this thing, I was surprised by the quality and actually had some doubts before purchasing it after reading CoyoteCap's info on his website, but decided to take the risk. I guess the quality has gone up or I got really lucky. http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a99/3006mv/P6190306.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a99/3006mv/P6190300.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a99/3006mv/P6190302.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a99/3006mv/P6190303.jpg I took off the black lever wrap and put on my own brown leather one. I still am still debating on cutting the buttstock down and adding a buttpad to it, I like to do my own work but don't have the tools to do it properly (squaring the cut and filing down the pad after installing it). Any suggestions as to a nice complimentary shell holder/cuff? I like the lack of or at least well hidden stampings; although it would have been pretty nice to have the original Winchester Repeating Arms Co. scrollwork on it, it is very appealing, I would love to get a tracing of one and have it engraved on the left side. http://www.texasranger.org/dispatch/11/Graphics/87WinchesterOverall.gif

:)

Nice job on the lever wrap!

I would recommend a quality gunsmith that knows gun fit, and how to fit this gun to you, do so.
Gun fit will assist you in so many ways.
I also recommend a Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad be fitted by this gunsmith as well.

JMB sure did know how to design didn't he?
