I recently acquired a S&W 686 with a 2.5" barrel and I'm trying to to find a holster to carry it. This will be the first revolver I've carried on the waistband, so I was wondering if I could get your recommendations for a outside-the-waistband holster that would hold the gun high and securely so that it could be covered by a long shirt. Given that there's not a whole lot of barrel to stabilize this 686, I'd like a holster that holds it very securely; a thumbreak isn't required, but a solid grip on the gun is.
I've been looking at options, but the variety is staggering and there doesn't seem to be a lot of variation from model to model. Can someone who has had experience with with revolver OWB holsters recommend a model?
