Allways wonder if thoose study at home course are any good and worth it.

Depends on what you want. They can help you better understand guns and can give you some tips on working on your own guns. But if you intend to go into business, they are not enough - you need "hands on" experience and good equipment.

Ask yourself how you would respond if you had to have heart surgery and learned that the surgeon scheduled to perform the operation got his experience reading books and watching video tapes.

I have taken two of them so far. The Foley/Belsaw course and the now defunct NRI course. Mr. Keenan is right on the money. The courses did teach me a lot about repairs, especially to older guns that are hard to find info for. They taught me some valuable skills also. Mostly they taught me to "think like a gunsmith" and to trust myself. But they didn't teach me enough to go into gunsmithing as a business.

Personally, I recommend the AGI videos. They cover each gun in far more depth and give a lot more useful knowledge. They still won't set you up to go into business, but what you gain from them is worth the expense.
