New Pistol from Kimber

I heard a sort-of-rumor today that Kimber will be coming out with a totally new pistol to compete with the Glock and Springfield XD type sidearm, and that it will be more accurate and have a much better trigger. Poly type body, but not 1911 style. Is this bull, or has anyone else heard similar notions.

Gee... nobody bought their Ten-II guns, so they just called 'em a new name and dropped the price. :D

from what I understand, Kimber normally deals with BUL Israel for their poly frames.

No folks - a NON 1911 type. I have a Kimber poly, nice gun, but from what I was told it will be of the Glock, DX ilk.

:scrutiny: hmmmm...interesting. But I wonder why? Don't they already have a good thing going? Why build a better Glock?

They used Bul's frames for the 1st run and reportedly weren't satisfied with them so now they make 'em 'in house.'
It is kinda weird that they're possibly looking at the spacegun market.

A polymer 1911 THAT TOOK 1911 MAGS would be nice. All of the polymers on there are doublestacks :barf:

Skunkabilly,
I think you are right. I am surprised that STI, Infinity, etc. have not offered a single stack gun constructed like their double stack versions. They could probably use the same frame insert or one only slightly modified. The grip could be offered in standard form or bobtail, etc. Multiple colors and all. The cost of producing it should also be less than a milled or cast metal version. No more stripped grip screws!

Sti does offer a single stack grip for their 2011 frames. It will accept standard single stack mags. You just unscrew the standard double stack grip and screw on the single stack.
Unfortunately the Single Stack society does not allow this type of gun in competition.
