Major Problem with Kahr

Well, it may not be a problem for the rest of you, but for me the problem is that it's TOO good. I've spent 30 years looking for the perfect pistol, and now that I've found it, I've kind of lost the will to go on.
Here are my specific problems: I have never had any malfunctions. The P9 fits my hand as if they used it as a model for the grip and trigger. With the polygonal rifling, it's more accurate than I can shoot. The early hard chrome on mine doesn't wear or, apparently, rust, though I try hard to pretend it does so that I can CLP it from time to time. I've learned from TFL how to disassemble with only two hands. It shoots more powerful ammunition than I want to use regularly. It's compact and concelable. It's made in America.
Do you see my problem? What's the point in looking for the NEXT Best Pistol - it's no fun at all. I've found myself looking at bolt action rifles. Pity me.

I concur. My Kahr P9 Covert is a first class pistol and one of the best CCW on the market.
I was pleasantly surprised at the light recoil and great accuracy that it produced right out of the box. Dead reliable too.
Enjoy your new pistol!

I picked up a "well used" K9 off from GT, and love it. I just got it back from the smith, with a new blue job. I've got it all cleaned up and assembled. I should get to test fire it Friday. I hope I've got it all back together correctly.

My thoughts on my mk9. Looked forever and tried many different pistols and found my baby. :D Now my only problem is I want a new holster every week to see if they all conceal as well as the ones I have. A thought just hit me maybe it's the gun that conceals better than anything else I have come across.

Kahr does make a fine pistol. I wish I still had mine. My wife carries it instead of me. I'm left with that old HK thing.
About the only thing that is objectionable about the pistol is the Moonie connection.

I used to have a Kahr K-9 and I loved it. I sold it like a fool and I regret it. Out of all my guns that I have sold, this is the one that I miss the most and regret selling the most.
I sold it because I felt it was a little too heavy to carry concealed. I had planned on buy one of the P-9s but then the PM9 came out. I am now not sure which gun I want more (P-9 or PM9). Also, prices on the P-9 were $425 NIB at the gunshows but now they are $100 higher.:banghead: What happend? Why did prices go up so much in such a short time?
I will be getting one as soon as I can decide which size I like better. The P-9 fits my hand like a glove but the PM9 would be a little easier to carry. I am leaning toward the P-9 because it feels soooo good.

I don't know if I could ever call a Double Action Only pistol "the perfect gun".

It's ridiculous to think that the Moonies have brainwashed people into thinking that Kahrs are so wonderful. That's just plain silly.
Please excuse me now; I must go caress my Precious....er, my K9.
Must caress my K9.......must caress my K9......

My K9 was the first auto I ever bought. I had shot my brother in laws a few times and I was so impressed that a small gun could be that accurate. I had to have one. I went to the gun show with the sole purpose of finding a used one. I searched the whole place until I came to the very last row of tables, and there it was! A stainless with night sights!
One thing I have noticed is that I am able to shoot my brother in laws w/out night sights more accurately than mine with the night sights. I think the gap on the back sight of mine is wider.

I've got a K9, and it has been just slightly short of absolutely FANTASTIC.
Why slightly short?
Because the parkerization stinks. It's thin and doesn't do much to protect the metal from rusting. I'll get rust through the parkerizing even with an oiled finish.
Kahr has offered to refinish it, but, it's not that big of a deal for a carry gun.

WonderNine:I don't know if I could ever call a Double Action Only pistol "the perfect gun". Quite a shock to me, too. Long time SAO guy here, thinking that pistol design peaked at the Browning P35. I guess it's the qualitative term "perfect;" with this I don't shoot Falling Plate matches.
harrydog - Yes, I'm in denial about that aspect, and can manage to forget it from time to time. But it is precious. <gollum, gollum>

Maybe not "perfect" but what is? Every gun that I know of has some drawback. SA only guns are a dying breed. They will hang around because people use them for target and games but for carry and self defense, they are being phased out. Not too many 1911s or BHPs left in the police depts or military anymore.
I would guess that within 10 years, no police dept. will have a SA gun and sales for self defense will drop even more. If you look at what is keeping SA guns afloat, it is really just the great guns. The 1911 and BHP are such good designs that people are not willing to give them up yet. If better DA guns were made, it would kill the 1911 market for all but the people that shoot targets and games. If I were going to use a centerfire semi-auto for target work only, I would use a BHP or maybe a good 1911 because the accuracy and trigger. If I were going to carry a gun in the police or military, I would want something as simple and reliable as possible, I don't safeties or extra levers.
The Glocks and Karhs are as close to being perfect as we have right now for personal protection. I don't like Glocks because of the grip and I think they are over priced for what you get but the design is very simple. The main problem with these striker fired guns is that there is no second strike capability. That is a big deal to me but nothing is perfect yet.

I'm very satisfied with my P40. Weight is perfect, size is perfect, everything seems about perfect with it. Some people said the P40 was so small that it hurt to shoot since it was a .40S&W, but I'll pop 50 rounds off in less than 10 minutes and even shooting one handed doesn't not hurt. Of course I'm 6' and 250lbs, so I guess I got a good anchor to the ground to absorb it ;) I have a minor problem before the gun was broken in where the slide wouldn't snap back all the way, but now that problems has passed (I hope anyways). Beforehand I never thought I'd be caught spending $500 on a gun... but here I am :p

I have a Kahr K9, love that little gun! I also have a Glock 19, 26 & 27 and a SIG 239. The gun I carry most is the K9, it's so thin, I put it in an Alessi Talon Plus and hardly know it's there! I'm having a hard time deciding what gun I want to have my VM-2 holster made for, the Kahr is definitely the front runner!

I like Kahrs but my P-9 Covert warped at the rails because the frame aint made of good poly like the Glocks. I was hoping the PM-9 was beefed up like they said they would do but after looking at one, I think not!
They are fine if you do shoot them much but I like to practice with what I carry. Now they have smokin crack prices!
