I have a number of CCW pieces, so my full size PX4 9mm is more of a fun range gun. I like the idea of the Burris Fastfire red dot sight on this gun, purely for fun.

Anyone have any thougths or experience with this red dot or this red dot/gun combo?

Unless you are still young and have good eyes to see the front sight clearly they rock! I use the J-point/Optima2000/Firepoint red dot sights.

I've not see the Fastfire in person, but in catalogs they look to be a variation on the same theme.

They'd be perfect if the battery holders weren't so lame, perhaps Burris has improved here.

One thing to remember, with iron sights you focus on the front sight, but with the red dots you focus your eye on the target and align looking thru the dot. If you focus on the dot you'll swear they don't "hold zero".

With my reading glasses on shooting off a rest I can shoot better groups with iron sights than with the red dot off a rest, but for speed on targets at 10-15 yards (steel plates) its tough to beat the red dot sights. Unlike lasers they work in bright sunlight and are still good in row light because of the auto brightness feature.
