Does anyone know what the different IDF standard issue sidearms have been over the years? I read that they picked up and remanufactured a lot of Nazi P38s in the 1940s and 1950s, but what came between those and the Jericho of the early 1990s?

I recently picked up an FN-made IDF-marked Mauser 98 in 7.62 NATO, which I didn't know existed until I saw it on the rack at a store. Has anyone seen any IDF milsurp Kareens or Gals? What's the going rate for these guns? I never see them on the usual auction sites.

Kareens were never standard IDF issue, however there was some issue of Belgian and Argentine HPs. In Israel, HPs were mainly police issue. Handguns were never a high priority in the IDF, and very little has been spent on them. The only actual IDF issued pistols I've ever seen, up to the mid 1990s, were Enfield .380 revolvers, Beretta M951s, Helwans, and HPs. I think there were some Glocks issued, but after my time.
