We should probably take this with a grain of salt. Gunguys is about as anti-RKBA as you can get. It's also the most ignorant. These are the guys who claimed that handguns aren't protected under the Second Amendment because they didn't exist when the Constitution was drafted.

Anyway, if this is true, it is kind of disturbing.

They absolutly had handguns then. Remeber Aaron Burr and that duel? Dueling pistols. And there were other kinds too. They were single shot flintlocks. I seem to recall some early experimental flintlock revolvers ... a double barrel one that you twisted 180 degrees to bring the 2nd barrel into action.
I don't believe there were very many easily concealable handguns. There was however a thing called a "frogfoot" which had several barrels that aimed sort of outwardly from a central axis, and would be rather intimadating to multiple assailants...even if not particularly accurate.
But "Gunguys" are about as ignorant of history as they are about the intent of the 2A.

The headline is deceptive. Switzerland is not thinking about banning ammo, but about changing the rule that requires members of the army to keep a large quantity of ammo, issued by the government in sealed boxes, at home. Citizens could still keep their own ammo. There are several suicides and murders each year with the issued weapons and ammo. Since Switzerland has not been invaded in a long time, it's easy for some to make the argument that readiness is not so important any more.

There is a gun rights organization in Switzerland. You can find their website at http://www.protell.ch/default_d.htm, but it's only in their languages. Be careful! There is a rather right-wing organization with a similar name.

Have you seen the site licensetomurder.com? I believe it's affiliated with this one and almost as blatantly misinforming...

Don't worry about the Swiss. They'll just do what they always do during wars, claim neutrality and make a healthy profit off the gold fillings of the dead.

...the best way to win a war is not to fight it.

Well assault rifles existed, L&C had a 22 shot repeater...

That's for sure!

I could get into a profanity laced tirade on how I feel about Swiss "neutrality", but I don't want to get banned from this great website. So....I'll zip it.

More nonsense from the nonsensical "GunGuys."

As Judge Silberman explained in the Parker decision, militia officers were expected to show up for muster with not one but TWO pistols.
