There is a .50 Beowulf upper shanging in the gun store, begging for me to buy it.
this one has a free floated barrel and flat top with rails. Someone with some experience with this weapon please give me your opinion.

Can't help with opinion, as what I know I got from another thread here, but I'm curious. How much are they asking for it?:D

The only experience I have with one is seeing one at the gun show this past weekend.

I got away fast before the distinct sizzling sensation from my pocket turned to the spontaneous combustion of large sums of crumpled bills.

Here's the thread I mentioned:

Tamara,

Same question. How much are these babies going for?;)

I seem to recall that they are asking about $650 for it. I will find out the exact price as soon as possible.

It's not the cost of the upper that scares me....It's the cost of feeding it!

$650? Uh oh.:D

The one I saw was, IIRC, $650 as well.

I believe it included one box o' ammo.

Yes, the upper is 650$. The ammo is expensive. The 325 grain hollow points are over 20$ (for a box of 20); 400 grain FMJ are almost 30$ for 20.

I bought the Entry upper last summer at the Black Rifle Convention. Just got a Russian Kobra sight for it but haven't installed it yet so the guns's only been function-fired as yet.
I went ahead and bought a brass-catcher also so I wouldn't have to scrounge around for brass and also a set of dies. That way the $1/round cost should go down dramatically.
Now to pick up some 400 gr oft points:cool:

I think the .458 Socom makes more sense from a reloading perspective, since there's a wider variety of bullets available.

has anyone tried rebarrelling a mini-14 or mini-30 in either of these calibers?
