New Kimber For CCW

Anybody else seen the new Kimber Custom Shop carry gun? I just saw it Tuesday, and can't find a reference to it on their web site. It looks like a black-teflon'ed Ultra Carry, but with an old-style minimized thumb safety, front- and back-strap grooves (instead of checkering), a short trigger, and a sight channel that runs the length of the top of the slide in place of normal sights. The whole thing is slick, lightweight, and extremely concealable -- a very nice looking gun.
The dealer had a price of $1050 on it, down from an MSRP of around $1280 or so. Don't know that it's worth all that, but it's a really cool little gun. Anybody know what this is, what it's called, or when it came out?

Ya know, I never thought to check the Press Releases... Thanks, that's the one! Cool pistol, eh? It feels great in the hand, too...

If it's half as nice as my Ultra CDP it'll be a beauty...

I'd be interested in finding out how well it performs.

I bought my first 1911 in almost fifteen years, and ended up with a Kimber Tactical Ultra II. I am very happy with it. I also ordered a Valtro 1998A1, but I have a few more months of waiting for that one. :o
Anyway, the Kimber is performing admirably, and I am glad that I went with the compact three-inch version. I took a couple snapshots of it.
The first two, due to lighting, don't show the gray frame very well. :(

Nice pics. I think I just found the grips I want on my Series I Compact project.

...so it doesn't have real sights, just a groove like the 5-shot snubbies?
How are the ballistics with something that short?

Hey Ken,
That's beautiful! Is that the original finish, and did it come with the ambi safety and magwell? I like it....
I have a Springfield Ultra Compact V10 (officer's frame, 3.5" cone barrel) that works great. I've been thinking of adding a 3" 1911 of some flavor. Have you had any problems feeding any type of ammo in your Kimber? My SA feeds everything, so I'm considering their Micro Compact or a Kimber Ultra Carry. If you have suggestions/advice/anecdotes, I'd appreciate hearing them. Thanks,
