Okay folks, I have asked a couple of questions reguarding a few 9mm's. I have gotten good answers, but am still not sure.

Let me tell you what I am looking for and you can offer your suggestions, if you will.

The Keltec and the Glock 26 would seem to fit your list at first, but I'm down on both guns. The Keltec because it's hard to shoot well , is not accurate past 7 yards and has reliability problems. I replaced the Keltec with a Glock 26 and thought I had hit the mother lode in concealed 9 mms. After about 2,000 rounds the gun started to have feeding problems and jams that could have gotten me in a whole lot of hurt. No more confidence in the gun.

I have gone back to carrying a snubby.

The CZ-75 and Ruger P89 are both in your price range. I endorse both.

Did you try replacing the recoil spring assembly in your Glock 26? That's usually the cause of problems like that in autos. I carry a G26 every day and like it very much, I've never had a problem with it.

One of the smaller CZ75 derivatives, the PCR or its followon with searchlight mount, the P-01.

Finding one might be the trick.

By DA, I'll assume you mean "....and single action..."
"Easily concealed" is a relative size-thing, BUT........

I aquired a new S&W "Value Line" 910s in February: depending on where you buy, it would probably go for a tad over $400.00.
It has a stainless slide/alloy frame, combination decocker/safety, and has been 100% reliable......I've put approximately 2,500 rounds of many varieties of factory ammo through it. The Tactical S&W 5900 series can be had with alloy or steel frame at about double that price....I am extremely happy with this pistol!

At your price point & requirements, I'd go CZ or Baby Eagle.

I have the CZ 75 P-01. They run between $425 and $500. Its a mid sized 9mm about the size of the Sig P-226 and the HK USPc. I've run about 500 rounds through mine without a hiccup. The P-01 uses a decocker , is SA/DA and has a light rail. Not in any particular order, the main selling points for me were:

1.) reliability
2.) weight (about 27oz unloaded)
3.) option for a .22 addon kit (CZ Kadet Kit=Cheap practice)
4.) nice trigger
5.) ergonomics (fits my hands perfectly)
6.) availability of high cap magazines (13 &14 rd mags are around)
7.) Hakan Peks grips:D

Could you clarify some requirements to me?

10rd - 10 round exactly or minimum or maximum?
DA - Double action only or double action (DA/SA type)
Easily Concealed - How big do you consider easily concealed?
Safe - Errr...explain what isn't safe to you, please.

Smith has a blued 910 as well that is nice, in the Value Line.
Walther P99, polyner frame, used would be about $400.
The P99 is a great pistol!

Have you checked out the Taurus 911 NOT the 111. It's a DA/SA with cocked & locked capability, 10 rds (14 w/a 940 mag) and you can conceal it. Check out the specs on the Taurus website.

MJRW,

10 rd minimum
DA/SA
3 1/2 to 4 inch barrel, medium frame
We will just disreguard the "safe" requirement. I know that the most important safety is between your ears. And that any gun requires the user to familiarize himself with it before use.

Ultrastar,
check your private messages.

PawDaddy,
The Kel-Tec is the perfect gun on paper for you. Too bad it is a POS! :neener: If someone could take that design, give it a good trigger and make it higher quality, it would be the gun you are looking for (and me). Out of the good guns I have seen, the CZ-PCR fit my hand really nice. Check one out. $399

One choice fits: Ruger P95!!
Tough as a MAC truck.
Reliable as daybreak.
Accurate as all get out!!!
Won't burn your wallet!!
Accepts standard 15 round mags. (Unless you live in the People's Repubic of Californication!!! :barf: )
One bad thing, though. It's ugly as sin!!! ;)

It seems to be that your range will include all used guns.

I'm thinking CZ-75, Glock 19 or 26, Springfield XD or XD-Mini (these can probably be gotten new for that price), maybe a used Sig but doubtful, and Rugers. Of this group, you can't go wrong. All of these will function reliably and shoot accurately.

Another quick question, have you concealed regularly before? If not, you'd be surprised what can be concealed easily. When I first started concealing, I wanted super tiny. Then I moved up to a medium frame (Baby Eagle and Glock 19). Now I find I can easily conceal a full sized 1911 under just a regular untucked polo shirt.

CZ-75 PCR or Compact. The PCR is an alloy frame and therefore lighter for carry. It also has a few other enhancements like better sights. loaded chamber indicator and extended mag release. I love mine.

I would say the Ruger P-95. But in reality I carry a Glock 19, better carry piece IMHO.

For new, I'd look at the CZ's or Smith 910.

For a good used pistol, I'd look for a Glock, a Smith, or other quality pistol. I'd prefer a Hi Power, but that's not dbl action.

I shot a coupla witness' a few days ago. I was suprised by how well they handled. They're even cheaper than the CZs.

I would consider the Glock 26 or the Springfield Armory XD subcompact. The XD is a tad bigger than the Glock. I like the trigger better and the grip safety better. The XD can be found new for around 400.00 the Glock used for around 400.00. The S&W 3900 series are a good bet too, with 7 or 8 rounds in the mag. The SW are really thin. Look around I found a 3914NL in all blue recently for 299.00. The thing I really like about the Glock is all the accessories available for it, and it is super easy to completely take apart yourself! Goodluck!

I like my G-26. It is a good CCW pistol and can accept 15rnd or 17 rnd Glock mags. My G-26 has trijicon night sights and pierce grip extensions. I use a Fobus paddle and a Galco fanny pack for CCW. My G-26 is very reliable and more accurate than a small pistol deserves to be!;)

Is there such a gun? There are a surprising number of such guns.

Here is my list (I'll give guns that are priced up to about $500 here since prices here sound like they can be 15-25% higher than most of the rest of the country on most new guns and many used guns):

-S&W 910 (price here ~$470). The value-series doesn't give up any quality v. regular S&W autos, only some features. This sounds like one of the best S&W autos out there (along w/ the 8 round 908 and 39xx)

-S&W 908 (price about the same as the 910). I know you said 10 rnds but this is so much thinner than the 10 round guns that it may be worth checking out (also value series, similar to the 910)

-used S&W 39xx. Yes, also an 8 rounder but very thin and nice guns. Can be had pretty cheap used (I've seen them around $300 before).

-used S&W 59xx. Double stack, high-caps available, good quality, just be sure it isn't too big for your needs/wants. I've seen police trade-ins as low as mid $300s here before.

-Taurus PT911 (price here ~$460). Great gun, I've never heard anything bad from actual owners of this gun and it should be pretty concealable.

-Springfield XD (price here ~$490)

-CZ P01 or if you can find one a PCR (price here ~$490). Great guns, CZ quality, compact and concealable.

-FM HiPower clone (price here, $300-350). These are pretty narrow for double stack full-size guns so you might find it concealable.

-EAA Witness, compact (price around here, no idea I've never seen them here- can be had fairly cheap online or in CDNN catalogue). Clone of the CZ 75 so the full-size gun is fairly thin and you might find it concealable so the compact should be great.

-Bersa/Firestorm Mini-9 (none around here yet, price sounds to be low to mid $300s most places). I love my Bersa Thunder in .380, it is reliable and quite accurate. I don't see why the 9mm shouldn't be the same. The size looks like it should be quite compact (I can't wait 'till the Mini-9 or the .45 get here, and they should as they have built-in locks and the Bersa lock is MD approved).

-used Glock. There are several models out there that might fit your needs/wants. Hi-caps available, lightweight due to polymer, reliable. Around here they tend to sell for $500 and sometimes a bit more used, but from reports on this board I'd expect about $100 less most other places.

-Ruger P95 (even here they can be had for ~$360). These are relatively light due to the polymer frame and they are very reliable. They are a bit bulky like all Rugers but the barrel isn't that long so if you can conceal it this may be a great "value" choice.
