Anaconda shooting weird

Took mine out yesterday for the first time, and was surprised by how well I was actually shooting. Any serious shooter would have laughed at me, but I believe handguns are suited for less than 25 yards, not the 200+ mark, but I digress.
Here's what I can't understand:
I was shooting better at 50 feet than at 30. More in the black, more consistent, etc. Anyone care to offer a guess as to why?
Thanks.

Perhaps the smaller target lined up with the sights more naturally for your eyes?
Are you using a center- or six-o'clock-hold?

I always shoot better at a distance of 25ft v. 10ft (approx estimates). I think it depends on your target. The black area on my targets are about 4x4in. When its too close im just trying to aim in the center of the black. When it is farther my sights are fixed directly at the center (which is now considerably smaller), and i end up shooting better.
I dont know if you can understand what i wrote, but i hope it helps.

Aim small, shoot small. Aim big, shoot big. Most people I've seen shoot 25 yd targets at 10 yds don't do too well. The bull swallows the sights and you don't get much precision. If you shoot at closer range get some 1" stick on targets to aim for.

You may be concentrating more and paying more attention to the basics since the range was longer.

It takes time/distance for the bullets to find the center of the target!:D
