IF the AWB is re-up'd things will stay the same....

If the AWB is brought back but with all of the other crap they want to add to it...... if that one passes, what becomes of the rifles we own NOW? will they become illegal? or will those that are currently in our posession be 'grandfathered' in?

In all my reading I ahve not found an answer to this? Basically I want to pick up a new AK, but if its going to be banned, I dont want to waste my money...

anybody know?

Legal guns may be expensive, but illegal guns are priceless. If grandfathered guns are banned or subjected to registration, I suspect it wouldn't go over well. Consider the California precedents but without the safety valve of friendlier states available. Consider also that a lot more people have AK clones and similar rifles than automatic weapons or "DD" shotguns...divide and rule wouldn't work well on such a large crowd. In short, I expect that the result would be civil disobedience punctuated by occasional mad minutes between law-breakers and gun-grabbing gangs, and by assassinations of the responsible beuraucrats.

In short, I'd get that rifle and not worry overmuch.
