I have had numerous jams with my Sig Sauer P239 April 05 Limited Edition especially when using the .40cal barrel. The slide doesn't return to the forward, chambered position and the shells do not always eject from action. The gun has been cleaned, re-cleaned and still multiple failures. Any suggestions? When using the factory .357 barrell, I do not recall any failures to date. Gun has approx. 500 rds each
Also, I sent the weapon into Sig and they "cleaned the mags, removed carbon from extractor slot & polished barrel feed ramp". "Test fired 100rds with NO MALFUNCTIONS".
Once I got it home it took me 2 for a malfunction. Another issue I notice is that after I take it to the range and break down for it's thourough cleaning/lub, there are metal shavings along the slide.

not sure but sounds like a OAL and or powder charge problem, do you reload your own?

I do not reload or shoot reloads. I've only shot Winchester 40S&W. 165gr, fmj target/range & only because of the price. If it IS a bullet issue, I guess you get what you pay for...

I too have a P239 April 05 Edition, however it is the 9mm cal. I haven't had any problems with the 9mm and I too shoot the Winchester Target/Range loads FMJ. I've shot at least 500+ rounds through it.
Are you cleaning it on a regular bases (right after shooting)?
I shoot the S&W 40 Winchester Target/Range in my SP2340. Again, well over 500 rounds with no jams or problems.
If your interested, I am looking to buy another P239 April 05 Edition. If your unhappy with yours, drop me a note. I live in Dallas, Texas metroplex.

Try different brands of ammo. I think Sig test fires repaired guns with Federal ammo. Stay away from Wolf and Fiocchi.
Why did you duplicate your post??

I was told that posting on Handguns & autoloaders would get more responses and that was very true. I'm new to this forum and am not sure how to delete the post from the gunsmithing thread.. . .
I just bought some GoldDot Speer ammo and will see if it helps. If it doesn't, she's going back!

I have a 229 9mm and it'll shoot darn near any ammo no problem,
but a lot of the security folk who frequent where I bought it have
239s and shoot .40 no problem. The .357 you shoot is probably
faster and higher pressure so it could be ammo but the shavings?
I'd take a close look at that .40 barrel. I would think Sig would have
picked up on that though?
