Just got my Model 66-2 out of the 10-day waiting period. Always nice to find a minty no-lock here in California

The main thing I noticed about this gun once I got it home and could really play with the action - is how incredibly crisp it is. I have always loved the action on my 586, but it is a muddled mess compared to the smooth tight crispness of this classic. I did notice the slightest of burrs on the sideplate screws - perhaps it had an action job? Were wide trigger/hammer standard for this piece?

The stocks that came with this are gorgeous, and my original plan was to hit this K with the Mother's Mag polish and a few hours of elbow grease and get a high-polish near-mirror shine... but now I am not 100% sure. Opinions?

A very nice gun. I really like those grips. The ones on my 66-2 with 6" barrrel are drab to say the least.

Althought I have never used Mother's mag cleaner on my stainless guns, I have used a product called Semichrome (Midway carries it). I have used it on several of my guns incuding my mod 66 and it cleans gently, so you may have to apply it several times to get the results you desire. That is fine with me, as I know I won't cause any unwanted scratches or uneven polishing. Best of luck with your new toy!:)

Sorry, "no" voters, but I started on the mirror finish tonight. After one hour with Mother's Mag polish it looks real spiffy, but not yet approaching nickel-esque status. Kinda like it is just super cleaned up with the steel grain still detectable. I think you all would be pleased. I think about three or four treatments like this and it will really start to impress.
