All,
My spider senses were telling me I need to run by a shop I had not visited for a while. They know me here and was wondering where I had been. We chatted for a while then he says oh yeah you know what I have something you want. He goes in the back and comes out with this original box and papers.

He had it in the back because one of the guys that work there was showing a little interest but he had it in the back for two weeks waiting on him. He called him up and told him hey I am going to sell it the guy replied well I think I want the S&W model 10 anyway.
He had a different price on it but for me $275.00 out the door. It locks up very tight, timing is great, and I got a set of pachmayrs with it. Whom ever had it took great care of it. I have seen others before but not in this condition. What do you all think?

XLint deal! Looks like a good carry. I had a 4" version, bought it new in '78 and traded it away about 10 years later. It was a good gun. I had a Hogue Monogrip on it that helped it a lot. Those standard grips are sad, LOL.

I woulda been all over that like stink on.......on........something dead.
About 4 years ago I passed up a deal on one with a 4" barrel with a couple hundred rounds of ammo for $240. Why did I do that ?
Then about 4 months ago I was too lazy to drive across town to get one in 9mm for $300. STUPID !!
Ya done good.

I got one for $300 at a gun show, with 4" barrel and pacymyr presentation grips.
BTW, watch near the end of "Terminator" and you'll see Sarah is driving through the desert, and her handgun is the same as the one I've got.

You kicked ass! How funny I had a very similar experience with my dealer and I got the exact same gun. In fact I'm going to check the safe. Make sure you have the right size screw driver when adjusting the sights.

You got a great deal. My first centerfire revolver was a 2-3/4" Security six. It was blue, and was used/unfired. I pais $105.00. Unfortunately, it was in about 1973.

you brag real good, we're jealous but happy for you. I had an old one w/4" and it was great. replaced it with a new S&W 686 because I fell on a sack of money and thought to replace the worn ruger. MISTAKE

Mine, too. I only paid $125.00 for mine... but it is a pre-warning Security Six I bought new, many moons ago. I didn't like the factory grips so I replaced them with Herrett grips. Great revolver for home defense, or just bustin' around out in the boonies!
(I still have the original red box it came in.)

Nice gun for a great price. These and the Speed and Service Sixes used to be cheap. I got two used Police trade in 4" Speed Sixes (one blue and one SS) for $175 each about 5 years ago. They turned out to be great guns which lead me to buy a 4" SS Security Six and later a 2 3/4" SS 9mm Speedsix.

Leanwolf, would you know what holster is in your picture? How does it fit the Security Six?
I'm having a really hard time finding a pancake for mine (at a reasonable price).

DBARALE, yes, that holster was made for the Security Six, and the S&W Combat Masterpiece 4", by Wm. G. Davis. I got it from him when I lived in Los Angeles, years ago. I really like it. At that time, he was one of the top holster makers for the IPSC crowd, and off duty police officers. I think he moved to Arizona, and last I heard, he was making leather for the cowboy shooters/SASS.
I suggest you go the www.simplyrugged site and contact Rob Leahy. I have one of his pancake holster for a S&W revolver and it is very well made. His prices are reasonable, also.
Good luck.

Thanks Wolf. It's funny, Simply Rugged would have been my first choice for a hunting rig but I never thought about them for a carry holster. I don't know why?
Of course, if you ever decide to get rid of this one...
