Help me ID inherited Remington

I have inherited a Remington pump shotgun, serial no 95XXX.
It was bought used by my uncle in october 1960. I don't have it here yet so there is no way of examining it closer at this point. The only info I have is mentioned above and thats what it says on the licence. I'm very curious about what model it is. I saw it as a child but don't remember much more than that it looked like any other pump.
Any Remington experts here?

Remington pump after 1950 . . . I'm going to guess an 870 :) Could also be a model 10 or 31 (and I think there was one other) but I'm playing the odds with 870.
When you get it there should be a model name engraved into the left side of the receiver.
ETA: based on the serial number blocks in ArmedBear's link, it isn't a model 17 or a model 29, which leaves model 10, 31, and 870 as options.

Remington made or makes at least 6 or 7 different models of pump-action shotguns, so we'd need some more definite info to know which one.

Call Remington with the gun in hand. They can tell you whatever you need to know, like year built, etc.

Probably not. There are likely 3 Remington pump shotguns in 12 ga. that all have serial number 95XXX. I've never worked in a gun factory, but I'm guessing the way it works is they make a new model and start stamping serial numbers, from 000001 to XXXXXX. When a new model comes out, they start over at 000001.
So based on production numbers, you either have a model 10, 31, or 870, but there is no way to tell without looking at it.

http://www.auctionarms.com/search/displayitem.cfm?itemnum=8073344 an 870
I went to these auctions. to find picks.
I am thinking that there was one last model that was the 870 action but with the mod31 barrel and mag system.
