The POTUS is in town for a fund raising event; specifically he’s at the Marriott Hotel about half a mile away. They’ve closed off the highway off ramp and the major street in front of the hotel so of course I had to take a round about way in. With trusty Fuji 602S digicam and sturdy East German milsurp field glasses in hand, I’m playing a little game of ‘spot the counter-sniper team’. I’m on the third floor of a seven-story building and our building manager is being real quite about it so I’m willing to guess that we’re hosting a few extra .gov employees today.

I have spotted for Secret Service teams four times in my career. Normally they have three teams out. I would have to say one on your building, one on the hotel. Pic isnt big enough to guess where they would set the third. By the way they carry custom Remington 700's 7mm Mag, and while on post the magizine full with the bolt open. Each team has a range card at their position with the yardage to every window, door and any other area where a sniper could setup. The spotters have a couple of patrol cars at their location to check out any suspicious sightings. The ones I have worked with were great guys and we would pass the time talking guns and shooting.
