Charlie's Angels II: yep, it's bad...

Well... had the chance to see this at a free showing last night, and foolishly took the chance. Only one question: when did Marvel Comics buy the right to Charlie's Angels? Those girls made Spiderman look wimpy...

Again, the girls don't use guns, and do enough aerial martial arts to land roles in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. And the hot bodies in skimpy outfits didn't make up for it...

However, Demi Moore has now given us a new great line: "When I was an Angel, we used guns"

That is what really pissed me off about the first one. They do more crazy moves than the Matrix

Yep.
Yet another example that proves my theory that any movie that prominently features Desert Eagles automatically sucks.

There is a corollary, however. The above theorem does not apply to The Matrix films.

Before the first Angels movie, all three of them did promos for AlGore for president. I guess in Hollywood, if you don't kneel and bob for the leftists, your career turns to ashes.

I wrote them all off at that point and have avoided their garbage ever since.

watching the previews for this show made me chuckle every time. it is so blatently geared toward the 15-30 male movie goer. i like fast cars, big guns, and skimply clad beauties as much as the next guy, but good grief. . .

When has Drew Barrymore been in a movie that's been good?

I keep hoping that she'll so offend the true actors in the family dynasty that they'll rise from their graves and drag her down with them.

E.T.

I don't know why anyone finds her attractive. Demi Moore is way better looking at nearly twice her age.

As to the movie, I didn't see it and don't know why anyone would pay money to watch a re-make of a campy '70s TV show that wasn't any good. I mean, what can you do when your starting influence was crap to begin with? The premise sounds as insulting to men as the Spike TV POS network TNN devolved into.

... it was a free showing. It's always good to have friends working at the theater...

And the moves in this go so far beyond The Matrix , that Neo would be standing there goin' "Wait a friggin' second... you can't do THAT!!!". Ferinstance:

Assassin's target is riding in a motocross race, assassin right behind him. Assassin realizes that the girls are after him, so starts shooting at 'em. Hits the epogy of a jump does a handstand on the bike in mid air, and lets go to shoot at the girls! A LITTLE believability woulda been nice...

Oh, well... Tomb Raider is coming soon, and League of Extrodinary Gentlemen... :D

When has Barrymore been in a good movie? Recently. And it was a damn good movie. In fact, my favorite of all time. It's called Donnie Darko. Stars Patrick Swaze. D.B. only has a minor role, thats probably why it's so good.

Well first off most sheeple won't notice it but these new charle's angels films have a real anti gun overtone to them. I mean the original angels before my time carried .38 snubbies,so why not these ones with baby glocks or kahr pm9's? It's stupid but using martial ats in place of guns really detracts from the experiance I'd say.

I mean to me this sends a dangerous message to younger women that martial arts is the be all end all even against a gun,and thats just stupid. I mean how long do you think it will be before some girl tries to take on a guy with a gun and loses? Can you say lawsuit?

Don't think it can happen?, i'd say it can theres no shortage of stupid people in the world. I know it may seem far fetched but i've heard more times from people "But I saw it in a movie"

You've always got to be worried about the free showings, Hunter.

I've been to a couple of free showings over the years, and uniformly they have STUNK!

The very worst, and possibly the WORST movie of all time, was Yor: The Hunter From the Future.

People in the audience were BEGGING the bad guys to kill the "hero."

i hope the thing flops and dies a quick but horrible death because if i have to look at any of those "women" too much longer and listen to them try to speak as though they are intelligent and have something worthwhile to offer, i may have to :barf:

i liked bruce till i seen that clip of him nose to nose with a guy out side a bar acting tough and all with his 400 lb bodyguard standing right there.

now i think he's just a punk

and demi is an idiot for marrying him and allowing him to reproduce

which is a statment justified by her exorbinant spending on plastic surgery and her new found love asthon, he's one of the sharper knives in the drawer, eh?

she looks that good cause she bought it

i believe we have the new cher on our hands

anyhow,,,

lucy liu i kind of like, except the media sure has overloaded us with her

too bad she associated herself with the rest of the lot...

havent seen the film, never will, will flip through it when its up on cable in 2 months...

I just _Loved_ it when the little heroine gets in a firefight with the BG's armed with a crew-served size Desert Eagle:D - Bout died laughing when she fished a spare clip out of the cleavage of her skintight little party frock, and her bust size shrank from a 'C' to an 'A' :D

Yes, you are right. Most movies prominently featuring Desert Eagles are complete crap. La Femme Nikita definitely falls into that category. So does the American remake of the movie, Point of No Return.

I say again: Won't some talented writer write a decent screenplay featuring guns used by lawful citizens for self defense?

Outlawing television was the one good thing the Taliban did.

(Just kidding, guys!)

On madtv they had a women showing off her self defense technics on her son, long story short, they didn't work so she pulled out a gun. BTW, SNL hasn't been funny for a long time.

I haven't seen Charlie's Angels but I've seen the trailer. It's all about marketing. Period. Teens and twenty-somethings think it looks fun and they will see it. They don't CARE if the weapons or stunts are believable. They were raised on music videos and computer games.

Every time the bar gets set higher- with a Crouching Tiger or Maxtrix movie - the next big action film has to top it. The next one that flops dismally will send the special effects wizards back to the drawing board and things will calm down for a while, then we'll get another action groundbreaker like Matrix.

I am a huge movie buff and I saw Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon - what made that film succeed, in my opinion, was less the martial arts sequences than the story itself, which was compelling - not the usual flimsy American fare in action flicks. I didn't even mind reading the subtitles because the story was so good.

In America, we need to remember what people want to see in films are good STORIES, not only a bunch of special effects looking like a long music video/commercial. The more sparingly effects are used, the more impact they have.

Unfortunately it's business folks who run the big budgets, not story folks. I write screenplays and I know this well. Independent films are great [sometimes] because they have more artistic freedom and aren't so marketplace driven, but they also don't get financed with big budgets.

Heh.
I'd forgotten about Snatch.
That gets a pass though, because the humongous size of DE is used for comic effect versus 'I'm Mr. Cool with the BIGGEST HEATER EVER.'

Donnie Darko is indeed a great movie.

"Sometimes I doubt your commitment to Sparkle Motion!"

As for Charlie's Angels, it is exactly what it is: An hour forty-five of glitz. Hot chicks, cool cars, big guns, and absolutely nothing so complicated as a real plot.

Yep, gonna skip that one.

Any movie in which the direct makes comments like "I won't let the plot get in the way of the movie"..

If you walked into the theater with any expectations, then it's your fault, not the movie's.

I hope Lara does a better job; as does bad boys..

I do agree that the undertone of "5'2" Asian chick can beat up 50 bad guys if she does 2 hours of Taebo with Billy Blanks every mornin' instead of getting herself a CCW" is just stupid.. and potentially very dangerous..

The Angels need some GunKata lessons..
