Hi. I hope this subject hasn't been brought up yet but if it has, I appologize. Could someone tell me if there is a website to go to that can tell me how to "stone or polish" (with pics hopefully) a trigger / sear for my Marlin 917 to reduce trigger pull? As you all know the trigger on it is horrible. Iv'e done the trigger's spring (pen spring) and it helped somewhat but I still need to get the trigger pounds down more. I can't afford a new trigger right now so any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Rather than modify the stock Marlin trigger, just replace the whole thing with a trigger from Riflebasix (http://www.riflebasix.com). Their triggers are adjustable for sear engagement and trigger pull. I've got one of my 917V and have been very happy with it.

Installation was a snap, but you might have to play around with the sear engagement a little to get it just right.

You can also contact the folks at Aquila Precision (http://www.aquilafirearms.com) as they do custom work on Marlin 917's

+1 for the RB. I put one in my 917V and it made a world of difference - it also happened to be the first mod I had made to any of my guns. I was so happy with the results that I have since modified a couple of my other guns.

go herehttp://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/

one very fast thing to do , is to cut, 1 loop at a time, off of the trigger return spring, and the hammer spring. these two alone will help out a big bunch.
