Just happen to come across a really nice UGARTECHEA EIBAR it has double barrell and double triggers and is really in great shape.It has on the side American Import Co San Francisco .It doesn't seem to be new but appears to be in 92 to 95 percent condition.It is a 20 gauge.No Box..It is all in blued finish and it does not have a hammer.The wood is in great shape...I would appreciate all info anyone may have...The dealer wants 700.00 for it.....He just got it on trade...Thanks again...HK23BEACH

Spanish doubles are known to be fine guns. If it were me, and that 20 had:

Straight or prince of wales grip (a little nubby pistol-like grip)
28" bbls (or more)
smallish fore-end

I'd buy it without asking permission.

Don't worry about the chokes, Briley will open 'em up if they need it.

Check the safety (sears) by
opening and closing,(thereby cocking)
Putting on safety (if not auto safety)
Leaning real heavy on the triggers
removing safety
Pulling the triggers.

Ask first for some snap caps, if they ain't got none, 6-8 dry fires won't kill the gun. Just make sure you the the seller what you plan to do.

If that exercise produces a trigger pull significantly different than the pull produced by a simple cocking, the sears could be worn or damaged. Use it to haggle down the price.

Look down the bbls at a light and inspect for dents and bulges. Look at the fore-end for repaired cracks

If you're not sure how to disassemble it, just ask. Likely an anson-deely boxlock -
Press the button on the front of the fore-end;
pull fore-end away from bbls and set it on the counter;
lever open gun, holding firmly to bbls and stock/lock;
Barrells make a lot of noise when they hit the floor.

PS Eibar is the gunmaking region (or where the proof house is) in Spain.

Good luck, and if this gun is within 500 miles of chicago, and you don't buy it, let me know. I got a lot of time and a little money.

Uggies are not as high grade as some Spanish makes but they're far from junk.

IMO, well worth $700.

If it's a boxlock, decent price. If a sidelock, excellent price. Any engraving?

Thanks for all the information.
I went and looked at it again and came to a more level headed decission it was about a 80 to 85 percent condition,being technical.Not in a foaming gotta have it mode!I knew originally it was different..I guess I was impressed on how good the condition was based on the age.I feel sure it does not have a way to change choke tubes.Did they make this model before changeable tubes?Would that change the value?Oh! I beleive it to also be a model 30 basic model very little engraving.I will try and buy it.I will be up for sale on the 10th.Thanks for all the information...Oh! Cabelas Gun Library has one like this for sale..I also found out that Aspen Outfitters sells these type guns.Found this out looking online.Thanks Again! HK23Beach

My ONLY complaint with the Uggies is parts availability. I purchased a 20 ga., #2 sidelock from an individual that has the (sidelock) screw heads stripped/buggered. I contacted Aspen and someone else (don't remember) that are exclusive importers to locate replacement screws/bolts. I was advised "if I hadn't bought gun from them (Aspen was particularly surly), contact Ugartechea direct". The Ug's are reliable, if somewhat rough, classic SXS's.
