i would like to remove the decoker on my sig and was wondering if that's possible. will the rest of the pistol still function normally if i remove it? i took off the grips and played with it a little but the decocker seems to be connected to the mainspring.

FYI: its not that i hate the decocker that much, but i don't really use it and i'm trying to get a pair of grips to fit the gun and the only way to do it without modifying the grips is to take the decocker out. any help would be great. or if anyone knows a custom grip guy in the austin texas area.

With handgun UNLOADED, mag removed, and pointed in a safe direction...

Just remove the left grip plate, unhook the spring from the back of the decocking lever (should just pull out), uncoil the spring from the decocker bearing, and the decocker and bearing will fall out. Literally. The pistol will function fine, however, you won't be able to safely lower the hammer on a loaded chamber.

Beware legal implications from removing a safety devise from it though (ie: you shoot in self defense, with a disabled safety=not good)

hey sigfanusaf, thanks a lot. it worked exactly like you said and was simpler than i thought. my grips fit perfectly! the left panel completely covers where the decocker used to be and the grips do say SIG on them so it doesn't look like the pistol was altered at all. hopefully that will keep me out of legal trouble. thanks again!
