Just bought a new carry piece

I've been using my HK USP compact in .40 as my regular carry gun for a while now, but I've been looking to replace it for a couple of months (at least during summer). The problem I'm having with the USPc is that it is a pretty thick gun and with typical summer clothes I can't conceal it very well.

So I went to the gun show this weekend and picked up a Taurus 605 snubbie in .357 magnum, and I have to tell you.. this thing is very concealable and very comfy! I've never owned a revolver before so I'm still pretty excited. I was supposed to go shooting with some people on Sunday, but some things came up. Anyway, I can't wait to fire it. I figure I'll check it out next weekend with some .38s and then work my way up to the .357.

If anyone out there has a 605, I'd appreciate some input. Thanks. :)

Here's a couple of pics for ya. One by itself, and one with the "winter" (or night) carry piece and the HD pistol. BTW sorry about the quality. Phone camera, ya know?

Haven't shot it yet. I'm really dying to try it out but I'm picking up so much overtime this week that I won't have time until Saturday -- a whole week from when I bought it .

Oh yeah... I've been looking on the web to see if there's any way to change the front sight to night sight. It seems that on Taurus wheelguns, unlike S&W, the front sight is fixed in place -- indeed, actually part of the frame rather than a removable sight. So I've been looking into painting it. Anybody ever hear of DuraGlo??

Guitargod1985,
Nice revolver. I carry a S&W J frame all the time.

As for the front sight, go to the hobby shop and buy the paint there. You know, those very little glass jars of paint you use for models. They cost about $2.00 and come in any color you want. Light green or bright red will work well...

Have fun shooting and if you have a problem shooting that little J frame well, buy a set of snap-caps and squeeze that trigger 500X or more. You will quickly see what you are doing wrong and be able to correct it. The added bonus is, all those trigger pulls will smooth out that rough Taurus trigger.

Yongxingfreesty, nice auto. That thing is SWEET! I like the j-frame too. *drools*

ArchAngel, thanks for the advice. I'll go get some of that paint. As for the rough Taurus trigger, no joke. I haven't had the opportunity thus far to pick up the snap caps, but I have checked the trigger pull a bit with my off hand holding the hammer from full impact. I am going to get the snap caps this week, though. I suspect that short sight radius will take some time to get used to.
